Some Things Never Change

                                                   please listen to the music...

Beginnings and endings, the ebb and the flow,
The joy and the sorrow the stay and the go.
Life has it's seasons of storm and calm
Time to move forward,or look back upon

I pray I may never selfishly hold
What was never mine, but borrowed gold.
I'll keep my hands open and trust the great Giver,
While I savour the moment that He has delivered.L.M.

Enjoying a wonderfully, busy week here before it changes .

How are you spending yours?

Be It Ever So Humble......

Ah yes, be it ever so humble....

there is nothing quite like pulling the  "old relic" of a camper out of the driving shed, and calling it home for a little while.

It certainly  isn't lavish, but oh the memories ~
this abode on wheels holds for us.

We usually go camping in it once a year at least and this summer we did just that on the week end.
After we've packed it to the brim with the essentials ,  we piled into the truck for the 3 and a half hour drive north.
We discovered this campground for the first time six years ago. Have not been back to it in four...http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/killb.html

The rugged ,northern landscape never ceases to take my breath away....

We were extremely grateful to get the spot we wanted by "our rock"...
here they are checking it out.

It didn't take them long....

This could easily be my favorite spot on earth...

here we are....(all except eldest daughter who had other commitments)

Water............ soothes my soul.............

And sunsets.........

It was hard to leave; but home sweet home and daughter await......
and besides one things for sure
my house always feels luxurious after we've been camping!

Reading this...

"gazing through the windows at other families isn't the same as living there day after day and knowing what goes on behind closed doors. There is a heartache like the one you're feeling right now in a good many homes."     Lynn Austin in Eve's Daughters

Between the peaches and pears the other day.... reading this absorbing book

( photo above of a house in P.E I. that intrigued me with it's mystery)

How about you, Do you enjoy a good mystery, now and then?

Happy Weekend.....soon we'll be off for a final hurrah..

Moments and Memories

"please Mom, can we have a sleepover?" my daughter pleaded. We might not have any more this summer."
I remember how much fun I had with my cousin growing up. I recall the days when both of my older daughters had sleepovers with this special nieces' sisters.I briefly ponder the speed at which the years go by, and I really don't need to give it any thought. " Of course! " I smile. "as long as sleep is included."

Baking cookies took up some of the morning.Discovered this recipe at camp last week.Thumb print cookies.

It worked out great. There was a " shaper", a "sugarer," and a" jammer."
Don't they look delicious?

In the afternoon we decided to pay a visit to one of our favorite stores.

The name says it all.

In the end ice cream won.

Sometimes I pretend I am a tourist in my home town. I love looking at something and wondering what I would notice if this was my first visit.

There is so much beauty in this historic town.

Thank you for taking the time to stroll with us.
May the moments that are left in your summer lead to great memories in the future.

After All This

After all the miles we drove, and after we were delayed at the border for almost three hours.

After arriving late because the GPS we were using was set for the scenic route, and missing Casting Crowns.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS_4VAX1a_A&feature=related

After we've left the Dad's to set up alone and we've run crazy, through the dark, in a theme park we've never been to just to realize it is way bigger than first imagined.

After a new day dawns , and we ride more rides than a child can dream of, and we've attended sensational concerts and listened to powerful speakers who've challenged and encouraged us.

After I've pined just a little; that second daughter was not able to join us for this...

After we're on the road towards home and we've stopped at a mall which has a Macy's and JC Penny and we've proved once again that shopping IS an art.(especially on a time crunch)
After we've had a late dinner and we pull into our drive this side of midnight,

After coffee next morning and I've marvelled at how everything has grown  and I've popped in to see my mother-in-law next door and tell her about our trip.
After the laundry has been washed, dried and folded, after we've tackled some of the weeds that threaten to besiege the place, with a fury.

After we've gathered, husked and blanched all that corn...

I pause, I place the flowers on the table in
an attempt to replicate the calm I feel.

I reflect on the wonderful vacation, time spent with friends, memories to treasure.

As life's wheel, moves ever forward.

Summer Vista

Summer's fields are a constant changing...

much like life and it's seasons too.
But one thing we can always remember....
God  will always see us through.

I have loved you with an everlasting love...

Feet For Him

Katrina got new boots today. She couldn't wait to come home and try on her "new" pink rubber boots with handles. She put them on and ran out the door with girlish glee. She runs around the perimeter of our lawn, her little ponytails flying behind her in the wind.
All the while ,she is chattering away to no one that I can see but I'm sure is there with her in the great beyond of her imagination.
She looks so innocent and carefree as I stand here in the doorway watching.......
It's the way it should be.
Simple things in life....such joy, a,nice spring day,new pink boots and a little girl savouring every moment.
I don't know; but right now I could take a walk in those boots.

I penned the above in April of 1999, when Katrina was four.
Last week she left to go on her first missions trip,to a native reserve in Northern Ontario.
She will not accompany us here    http://www.kingdombound.com/    in a few days when we leave for our holidays.:(  She would have loved to ,but her trip had been planned before this.

Choices and decisions; all part of growing up.

Packing. Oh, the agony of  deciding what NOT to bring!!
