Ease The Day

Don't you find that some days are better eased than seized?
I know seize the day...a wonderful mantra for sure...
but sometimes, some days....need to be eased.

ease
ēz/
noun
  1. 1.
    absence of difficulty or effort.

    synonyms:effortlessness, no trouble, simplicityMore

verb
  1. 1.
make (something unpleasant, painful, or intense) less serious or severe.
"a huge road-building program to ease congestion"
    synonyms:

  2. 2.
    move carefully, gradually, or gently.
"I eased down the slope with care"
    synonyms:guidemaneuverinchedgeMore

That was the case for me last week, eldest daughter had had an injury at her work...not major but enough that it required concern)
Second daughter came home from school in Toronto to have oral surgery to remove her wisdom teeth...
Although none of it was huge it required an easing as opposed to seizing...
got me thinking.....
"ease the day'" like it....
listen, care, share feel, wonder, understand, give, quiet, pray.

All ways I can ease the day.......

and a Happy Birthday to my Brittany today!  (in front with glasses) This photo is from last year..

busy making supper today to bring to her house....

it has been a rainy Monday, but the sun is beginning to shine!

Paint Project Update

At the end of my last post I mentioned that I had a new table for my family room...

I painted it with milk paint...in artissimo. I am in love with the name and the colour:)

It is a rich, almost navy but not quite...sort of like a dusky night....

here's what it looked like before...

I like the way it pairs with this chair better at this height...(now should I paint the chair also?:)

while I was in paint mode I painted this chair also in artissimo but dark waxed it after.

I also tackled the cupboard in my laundry room....which had been an orangey oak before..

here I used old white and antique wax...not sure if I'm happy with it,  But I can change it if                                           I decide to,that's the beauty of paint. right?

because I am not sure if it is the spring outside my door bursting and beckoning me..but I sense everything seems to be waking up and renewing...

                                                    Happy Monday!

Elements Of Expression or Family Room Change

Hello, I hope April has gotten started on a good note for you..

Recently by shopping my basement and tool shed I was able to make a few changes in my family room.
Nothing big, but enough to get noticed by my family who  has become quite indifferent  oblivious to the changes that revolve in this house.
I am not the type of person who is always changing things by any means...I tend to find a way that works as far as furniture placement etc. and I stick with it.
It is nice though to move things around and not get stuck in a rut...so maybe I will become a mover and a shaker...ha, ha:) well a girl can dream, can't she?

Okay on the serious side of things; the valance I had in here before was looking a bit drab.... (sorry no photo of those, already banished  I mean put away))so I discovered these I had disposed of once a few years ago from another room..

Although I still like the picture I had above my couch'

I decided I'd like to use my vintage frame for something...

I touched it up with a bit of paint, and added a dried bouquet from daughter's wedding...

simple and sensible, right? :)

I also switched up the lamp from another room...and found a pillow that says "spring"

So not a full out room makeover but a simple solution to a tired facade.

after I had this post together I came across a 'new ' table....future paint project...can't wait.:)...to be continued...

Beside Still Waters

Hello dear friends,
I am here this evening to  share a few photos I took today.
It is Good Friday, and in order to keep it from simply being another day where we see what we can accomplish we took a drive to the nearest beach we have ....

It was so quiet, only a few other souls out here...no sound of waves or seagulls...

the water was still covered with ice, enshrouded in a deep and somber mystery...
my girls give the lonely swings some company...

I sit and breathe in the silence of the sea...listening to its sacred message to me...

we wander, searching the shore , than I see it. I see exactly what we are looking for....

there it is...a simple stone with a cross visibly scratched onto the surface . I stoop transfixed, fascinated and excited I call to the others ahead, "look at this!"
It was enough, it was there just for me...to see, remember and know.

I keep going because of this truth, and simply like everything here on a frigid Good Friday.

I wait.....

He stilled the storm to a whisper, the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and He guided them to their desired haven. Psalm 107 29&30

Wishing you a blessed Easter weekend...
