Significant Sentiments

Sisters: I really can't think of anything to share that would be more appropriate for My Favorite Thing

The sister I'm sharing with you is, among other things...
- a consummate poet;Read her work here...
-a mother to four great kids...all who are within months of my own.....(we honestly did not plan that, but God is good:)
-a devoted wife to a truck driver husband,
-a  lover of the Lord.

Well recently when I had a birthday she blessed me as she has so many times in the past with a gift that is just what I like...

So I started thinking over the past birthdays and decided I'd share some of the gifts I received from her...

My prayer for you is that you too have a sister like mine or someone who is like a sister to you, they really do make life's load  lighter and the journey brighter...

                                                            mug and journal
and I treasure this little vintage trunk on my mantel...

I see the picture behind it is a mirror of sorts...
like my sister we are one another's mirror too at times,
our perception is our own- as it should be,
another gift we have to treasure.
and the very best gift from a sister is the gift of herself
a very special wonder.

I prepared this post earlier this week....before the ice storm hit and power was out.now I guess it'll be a surprise for my sister when she is back to her computer...tee heee:)

  1. Lovely gifts you received, Lucy. And I see you had a recent ice storm. Guess spring is having a hard time springing there, as well as in Massachusetts.

We've had some lovely, warm, sun-filled days and then, WHAM! It's back to winter. Bizarre weather this year.

Take care and have a nice Sunday! Susan

  4. What a lovely tribute to your sister. I am blessed with a wonderful sister, as well. Our other sister has cut herself off from our family, so you can bet that I appreciate my sister even more.

Thanks so much for joining in this week!

  5. So sweet. Hoping my girls experience the heart of this as adults:) I have to tell you: I have that Emilie Barnes book! I used to stalk that dear woman. Went to every seminar she had in the KC Metro area and bought all her books. I still treasure them.

  7. Lucy,
It sounds like you and your sister are friends as well. She gave you many lovely gifts. I LOVE THE WHIMSICAL PICTURE!! And the poems of Love caught my eye too. I also have a sister, and we try to get together once a month. She's a bit older than me, but a good friend as well.

Thank you for your comment on my 'cousin' post. I appreciate it so much. I will miss her dearly, and I'm glad that I have you for a blog friend to share my thoughts along the way.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

  8. How beautiful a gift a sister is! Your sister sounds so lovely and thoughful.
I have 3 sisters and am so blessed (2 brothers too!) ;)
I love all your gifts and reminders of how she loves you.
I was south last weekend and when I popped over in Cambellville people had said the power had been off and just had come back on.
As I drove into Cambellville it was like a winter wonderland through the trees...so beautiful! A knitting shop drew me here and I had a surprise waiting for me....her store was about to close in 2 weeks and all was 30 percent off! ;)
    Blessings!

    All my heart,
    Deborah xoxo

  9. Hi Lucy,

I so enjoyed reading this tribute to your sister. She must know you very well, and I sense that you might be very similar in nature. The pretty jumpsuit clad brunette is a showstopper!

Your pics of the ice storm last week are gorgeous! But, I can't say I miss all the snow and the darkness. I was home for three months and three snowstorms! Glad to be surrounded by sunshine and signs of spring!

    Have a great weekend,

    Poppy
