ThankFull

Saturdays are my favorite day of the week. They usually start off slow, and there's no lunches to pack. Yay..
This Saturday was a lovely one with just a perfect blend of things to accomplish and things to leave for another time.
We are celebrating Thanksgiving here this weekend, so there are many smells simmering in the kitchen as we prepare for a traditional  Thanksgiving turkey dinner to be enjoyed tomorrow after church.

my fall table center piece made with things I had around, easy to move when necessary..

Yesterday upon visiting the library, I  ironically came across this book on there discard table.

Is there anything better than warm apple dumplings?

Here is the recipe, found it in the bottom of my recipe drawer in my sister's hand writing

It was a treat to have 3 of my daughters in the kitchen with me..

I also took time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall  day...
I find it fascinating to traipse through the fields around our place in every season, there is beauty.

and around the corner is home.

So while the stuffing works on perfecting it's stuffiness...

I pause to remember that everything I call mine is gifted and loaned to me from a Higher Power.
Nobody's life is perfect, but we are blessed and it is good
to recognize the significance that the threads of gratitude are to life, and it is necessary to Give Thanks.

Thank FULL

                                        my kitchen calendar reminds me...

Thanksgiving weekend has come and gone here in Canada.
It was full. Too full to blog about... until now.
It felt like an amazing gift to all be together as a family once again. My daughter, who's in university was home, and we all went to my eldest daughter's home for our first meal there...since they have been married!!
                              my favorite five...

                them;'it's too bright'! me;'it's perfect'
Visiting your own daughter's home is such a blessed and beautiful  poignant feeling. It has the embodiment of wonder, awe and blessing.  At the same time it feels like a raw, and gut wrenching emotion of time's irrevocable spin, and years that blur into decades in a blink.
love the panoramic view they have...

My daughter and her husband live on an adorable little farm; (not unlike the one she was raised on:)...instead of sheep though they have these goats.
                     Don't they look rather genteel?

So after driving back to Toronto to deliver university daughter, and after sending my others off to school and hubby to work, the home front is quiet. I stand at my patio doors sipping black coffee and immerse my full heart with the Giver of goodness.

Gathering Gratitude

Please listen to the beautiful song...
in lieu of Thanksgiving here in Canada.

To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us - and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him.

Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference
.”
― Thomas Merton

so many times I've thought of writing a gratitude list , and been a bit embarrassed that I haven't started one. Well here goes; beginning late may be better than never beginning.

1.The four seasons,2.my four daughters,3.one faithful husband,4.one terrific son who makes me smile,5.a husband who can fix most things 6.hearing a great song on the radio when I'm driving alone and I can turn up the volume:)7.piano teacher who comes to my house 8.waiting ,and the blessing it can be. 9.supper in the oven 10.flowers and hydrangea,11.laughter& it's healing properties,12.a bible study on the book of Esther 13.grace beyond comprehension,14.consignment stores, 15.light for my bike so I can ride at dusk,16..health more valuable than any wealth...

I would like to cultivate more gratitude in my life, so I will try and add
to the list with each post.
