Yes , In All Things...

I heard these guys live, about a month ago, and since then have been totally in love with their music and message.
This song reiterates so well that it really does take the bitter and the sweet to make a life rich and complete.

As I thought about this song today, certain peoples' hardships came to mind.I realized I can not talk about something I have not had to endure. My prayers are with you if you are at the breaking point in your life. Hold on and wait for the beauty.

At home on a Sunday Night.

Sunday evenings ,ah yes that wonderful night when supper consists of a gigantic bowl of  popcorn, and the whole family cram jams on the couch to watch the show that has won the most votes by all of us.
It really is a quite unorthodox affair as we squish together and argue blithely over who should be in control of the remote. Our adrenaline sky rockets as we scale a huge precipice, run to the finish line,
or are crowned queen of Genovia!!! We cry as we watch the owners of a new home marvel at the reality of a dream come true; and for a short while we have escaped ours.
Oh yes, there are nights we opt to play a game together, scrabble, crokinole or the old favourite hide and seek in the dark.
These nights are nothing overly noble, in and of themselves, but it is knitting us together, our imperfect family; creating memories and a bond that hopefully will last a lifetime.

ONE THOUGHT COMFORTS ME LIKE NO OTHER
WHEN I FEEL LIKE I'VE FAILED IN MY ROLE AS A MOTHER.
THE HOPE THAT THE LORD IN HIS GOODNESS WILL SEND
ANOTHER NEW DAY FOR MY ERRORS TO MEND.
And HE did..............

This is the day that the Lord has made,
Let us rejoice and be glad in it
Psalm118:24

Good-bye Whitney.Thank-you for the Music

The greatest love of all is of course God's love for humanity. But I wanted to share this song as I believe it conveys a powerful message...
We can not really live in harmony with ourselves until we have accepted ourselves.....
in acceptance lieth peace.(Amy Carmichael)
this was an epiphany for me when I learned not to depend on others for my sense of worth, but to accept
who I am and am not.
Blessings.

How Do You Say I Love You?

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity,I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and though I have all faith,so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind.Charity envieth not;charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.
Doth not behave itself unseemly,seeketh not her own,is not easily provoked,thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth;but whetherthere be prophecies, they shall fail, whether there be tongues, they shall cease, whether there be knowledge it shall vanish away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come that which is in part shall be done away,
When I was a child,I spake as a child,I understood as a child,I thought as a child;but when I became a man I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass darkly;but then face to face.now I know in part ;but then shall I know even as I also am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity but the greatest of these is charity.
ICorinthians 13:1-13.

I chose this version because it uses the word charity instead of love which many versions do.
I love the word charity .

Someone once suggested placing our own name in the spot where the word charity or love is.
It is a humbling exercise.

Heartbreak

It is so hard to sit passively by and watch heartbreak.

Attitudes and choices which undoubtedly will end in heartbreak.

Words are not what is needed I know,

Even though I have tried, to avoid the heartbeak.

It is inevitable.

How ? What can I do??

Silently I clasp my hands in prayer to the One

Who hears our heartbreak.

He is there, He is in control.

I rest in this as I know even the heartbreak is in His hands.

More Than Just a Bedtime Story

Recently I had the thrill of finding my absolutely favorite childhood books.
The Melendy family is a story about 4 children who basically grow up on their own. They have their father but he is often away, their housekeeper Cuffy and grounds keeper Willy.

The books take you through the trials and triumphs of family, life lessons, and the wonder of childhood.
Publishers Weekly says "The Melendys are the quintessential storybook family.......their ardent approach to living is eternally revelant."
In the book The Four Story Mistake the Melendys have moved from the city to the country.
The house is a peculiar one with a cupola on top. When father introduces Randy to the cupola ,she is feeling wistful and somewhat lonely for her old house.
excerpt......"there's
a window for each child " Randy remarked.
"So there is,"said Father.and after a minute he said," And now that I think about it,Randy, I believe that each of these windows belongs to one of you in a particular way. This one ,the north one, for instance, that looks so far up the valley. It must belong to Oliver because he is always looking ahead:
always straining toward tomorrow. The east one is Rush's.The view  from it is all moving and changeable:the wind stirs the trees, the water dashes and foams in the brook. And the south one. See how the dark spruce branches beyond the glass make a  sort of mirror of the window. That's Mona's :
she's at the age where she loves her own reflection."
" And the west window?"Randy said.
"the west window belongs to you, Randy. From it you can look back all day along the road you traveled yesterday."
Randy thought she understood what father meant.
But sometimes added father it would be nice if you and Oliver changed windows. In fact,it would be a good thing if all of you exchanged views once in a while."

this brought tears to my eyes as I contemplated the truth of his statement.
Maybe we should exchange views sometimes.
would it appear the same?
would we appreciate our own view more?

I don't know but it's something to think about.

Many kinds of Hunger...

Grace- Old Man Blessing Meal/Praying/GraceThis profound image reminded me of this quote I love..............
LORD,Give bread to the hungry and hunger for You to those who have bread."
                 Catherine Doherty.

Help me Jesus in my small way feed the hungry.
So much hunger Lord....physical, emotional,spiritual.
All knawing inside needing fulfillment.
Help us define our hunger and turn to You for the ultimate fulfillment.

Comes The Dawn

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning.
And company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts.
And presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up .your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow is too  uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in midflight.
After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure....
That you really are strong.
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and you learn....
With every goodbye you learn.

Veronica A Shoffstall.
