Fluttering Along Post Cards

the other day as I was meandering around the thrift store looking for treasures that could be useful, beautiful or both, I spied this little vintage tin filled with post cards.
They haven't been used and i can't seem to find a date anywhere but I am sure they must be OLD! either way I think they're quite neat...
I simply need to decide the BEST way to utilize them....

I am open to ideas and suggestions...
here is the tin they are in...

and all the designs...

a little did you know.. I heard this definition first last year..and found it interesting although I have to say I still don't like the idea of saying"Xmas versus Christmas"

I also found this picture..
I realize the scale isn't 'quite right' but I like the colours....

Well, I am off to finish a painting job and run errands and feed my chickens and well you get the idea:)
what have you been up to?

  1. Oh Lucy I love those postcards. I have a few tins of postcards like them, printed by the same company. They actually are not old...I mean vintage. They may be reprints of vintage postcards. I found mine in a tiny gift shop in the city but I think they also sold them at Borders Books when that was around.

  2. thank you so much for that Kerrie.
I shouldn't of assumed they were old as I didn't see a date..
Either way I like them and think it's special you have them too!

  3. Hi Lucy,

Sweet postcards and their pretty tin! I LOVE your picture! I would have grabbed that, too, if I had seen it; love the colours and the lace doily draping over the table, so charming!

    Have a happy weekend!

  5. Love your postcards! As you know :) I am a collector of antique/vintage postcards ~ and I have an original of the pair of birds huddled together against the snow! I believe it's postmarked 1910 or around there. One thing that's so nice about these, being reproductions, is they are in perfect condition! As far as how to use them, I like to tuck them in around the house (as you've done). I also have a small shelf in my kitchen where I've displayed them with pine and berries (I sometimes like displaying the back of the old postcards so you can read the messages). They are great as gift basket accents! Since yours are new, you can even personalize them with your own message. Nice find ~ enjoy them :)

  6. So pretty, thanks for sharing. Old postcards are such a great insight into the past. A vintage postcard reminded us so strongly of Felicite of Flaubert's A Simple Heart, we bought it. Have a look at this lovely old postcard and lots more here http://www.normandythenandnow.com/a-simple-heart-at-pont-leveque
