Painted Hutch and Blogging Siesta

Today I'd like to share a wee project that I've been working on...
painting the china cabinet in my kitchen.
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint...
I haven't quite finished yet as I still need to decide on the hardware,
but here it is before, in all it's oak glory...

mid way...

nearing completion...

I am quite pleased with the results...I love seeing the transformation happen!
and now I must let you know that I will be taking a break from blogging for the month of December.
I will still pop in to visit you if I can, and will be wishing you peace in your heart and home during the undulating rhythm of the coming weeks.
Warmly, Lucy~

  1. that looks really good!! Does your family like it too? guess what I'm doing? I'm in the middle of painting the long wall in the family room. I was house-cleaning and suddenly bang! with the whole wall emptied and scrubbed suddenly in the middle of the afternoon i decided to paint it! It was so chipped and scratched. Likely I will end up doing the whole thing. I'm not sure i like the paint. It's not as different as I wanted it to be;(

  3. Oh my I love it so much!!! Did you use French Linen or Paris Grey? I have used both and love ASCP. The transformation reminds me of our kitchen. It really is so lovely and gentle on the eyes. I am taking a break from blogging and my etsy for Advent. I will post a few winter & holiday posts I think. We will see. Enjoy your break and Merry Christmastide xxo

  5. What a great project and to see the transformation. I like the finished look -- it looks marvelous against that wall. (Funny thing, as I read your post, I could hear my dad gasping in the back of my mind as he would have been mortified to learn someone wanted to paint over all that glorious oak -- he truly liked natural wood finishes :) ).

Lucy, do enjoy your time away as you prepare for the coming season. You can totally focus on just being in the moment. As for me, this year I so wanted to post and be totally on my blog in December. Haven't had that chance before in all the years I've been blogging. I'm looking forward to Advent and sharing this woman's thoughts about living in the 21st century and what Christmas means to her at this stage of life.

Wishing you glimpses of heaven in unexpected places....

  7. Beautiful, Lucy!
    And brave you, for
    tackling something
    like this right before
    the holidays. Even
    as great as AS paints
are, it's still a lot of work!

    Enjoy your new cabinet
    and all the lovely days
    ahead as we approach
    Christmas : )
