The Chalk Paint Chronicles (and Moderation)

About a year ago, I dipped my brush into the can of paint to begin my first chalk paint project. I haven't looked back since...
It has been a wonderful year of trial, error and tears.  No actually no tears, just happy smiles as I finish something and gently plan and dream the next redo.
I say gently, because here for all parties involved, change is best made s l o w l y...
( ha, even for me, who am I kidding!)

Here are most of the things that were painted with chalk paint during this year...and at the end you'll see what I am considering to paint, e v e n t u a l l y ... maybe..
     sorry for not having before photos,

           the desk in my girls ( now the younger two) room was the guinea pig!

which led up to the china cabinet in my kitchen..

 still my favourite project to date...

I also painted out the orangey brown vanity in the laundry room...                                  

and a table for the family room..

this summer an old beat up end table from the basement, found a spot in my son's room.

my latest endeavour was this cute ladder I found in a thrift store while with second daughter one day...I'll see if she needs it for her apartment in Toronto...

It's hard to tell here, but it was pink before...and now it's the last of the hutch's french linen 

So now the moment to ask / share what I am contemplating painting next....

a beautiful clock from hubby many years ago...( I mean the clock, not hubby and yes he is beautiful too!)

Yes, No, Neutral???

I hope I haven't created any enemies!!

Here is the room it quietly resides in...beside the lovely desk which for the record I will NEVER chalk paint!

I don't think so anyway....but then again... 

because I believe...

Right?

Getting Ready

The mountain ash outside the window is looking a little thread bare these days.
It clings to it's scarlet berries in a vain attempt to dignity.
                                              

Evening bike rides once a leisurely escape, are now a desperate dash against the ever so prompt close of day.



      Jeans become an essential part of the ward robe again.
                                        

                                          
            Salsa is canned from rampant, brimming gardens.
                            

      Intriguing books make their way home from libraries.                        

I reluctantly close the window by my kitchen sink. I keep it open all summer unless there is a heavy down pour. I leave it open a little...I must hear the sounds from nature and the traffic on the road. It's strange but it soothes me.
                                  

Are you like me does the departure of summer make you feel  a little spent? all the while its strides away, oblivious to any stir of emotion it may have caused...

Happy weekend to you.  Our plans to attend the fall fair today look like they need improvisation....let's see....

Tin Treasures and Vingettes

Hi! I'm wrapping up a busy week on the homefront...
Spring arrived on the calendar,if no where else...
At least I can't say I never had time for necessary tasks like organizing closets...

confession;I'm a sweaterholic...(this is some of them:))
                         and blouses...

I don't color coordinate my items really, Do you?

This blouse is so pretty and vintage looking...I keep it, even though I've seldom worn it...
actually I should hang it in my laundry

french wall hangings at 
a thrift shop recently for two dollars......































I also have a thing for vintage tins....
this is my latest...

the saying on the lid...Home Is Where Love Grows...

and it matches the clock....

 some more favorite tins....

they are great hiding spots for money, candy or whatever you'd like to save for a rainy day....(mine are empty at the moment...but at least I'll be ready when opportunity hits:)

 this one is dreamy and romantic like a lush June garden...

       yesterday was my daughter Katrina's birthday...
  she turned eighteen.Happy Birthday dear, we love you.

A Weekend's Offerings

It was a ,busy weekend here...but on Friday morning I enjoyed watching about 6 cardinals outside my window...looked so pretty with the snow.

among birds.Mates for life, they stay together year round,feeding and nesting up to four broods each season.
They are known for the harmony of their singing; one bird trilling a melody,which the other picks up and completes. (J L Turner)

Later I picked up my daughter. This is a good three to four hour trip all round, the roads were messy with snow so it took us at least that.
Always good to be home safely again.

Saturday was a blur of activity, but I managed a great ski out in the glorious sunshine. My oldest daughter and friend were on the ATV in our bush when they came across a herd of forty deer!!!!
Now where is a camera when you need it?

     
             I call this my retrospective view...
         I love skiing out to this spot and looking back. (that is our barn in the distance)
               I breathe the fresh air deeply  and simply thank God for life and His faithfulness,
                 

Sunday; beautiful  frost decorated the trees outside our window, 
                  what a lovely scene to wake up to! 

When hubby came out to the barn later he found one of our ewes had  given birth to twins! Let's hope they survive....(raising sheep hasn't exactly been a breeze!)

We did still make it to church...and later on we enjoyed skiing and then relaxing with friends.I love a rest from the usual race and routine on Sunday's, and relaxing with friends is a good way to do that!
